Blackbird Arts initially began under the name: 'Singing in the Dead of Night' aka SITDON. This artist collective was founded by Teresa Christine in September of 2022. At that time, Teresa had the desire to see an artist showcase that concentrated solely on the creative voice of the African American woman. With her work, and the work of 10 others, Teresa curated an exhibition that gave focus to a traditionally underrepresented group in her city's art scene. Going forward, the goal of Blackbird Arts is to continue this mission by facilitating exhibitions, workshops, and opportunities for the underrepresented creative.
